South Hadley Business Improvement Grant Program

Grants up to $10,000 - Awards will be made on a first come first served basis.

Application Due Date:  April 30th at 3pm

Funding for eligible projects will be awarded on a first come first served basis. Previous grantees under past Facade Improvement Grant rounds will be considered after all other eligible applications have been considered for funding

Program Description

The South Hadley Falls Business Improvement Grants provide commercial businesses, nonprofits, and commercial property owners in South Hadley Falls with financial support for the enhancement of small businesses through reimbursable grants of up to $10,000

The grant is structured as a reimbursement of a property or business owner’s investment in eligible storefront façade enhancements or other eligible business improvements.

Funding Availability & Eligible Activities

Applicants to the program may apply for a reimbursement of up to $10,000 in funding for improvements to:

• Improvements that support business entrepreneurship, sustainability and growth
• Membership to the South Hadley and Granby Chamber of Commerce
• Membership to other professional business organizations and/or economic councils to support diversity, equity and inclusion in the business community, including but not limited to:
  • Black Economic Empowerment Council
  • ACE NextGen
  • Massachusetts LGBT Chamber
  • Latino Chamber of Commerce Massachusetts - Springfield Regional Chamber
• Facade Improvements including:
  • Exterior painting, including murals on the street facing side of the building
  • Awnings
  • Signage
  • Exterior lighting
  • Window boxes
  • Window signage/ affixed window treatments
  • Minor repairs to the exterior façade of the building

Businesses, nonprofits and commercial property owners located in South Hadley Falls. Recipients of previous Facade Improvement Grants will not be considered for funding until all other eligible applications have been funded.

Application Process 

Business and property owners may apply by completing the online application or submitting a paper copy to the Planning and Conservation Department. 

Application will be accepted on a rolling basis. Eligible projects will be awarded on a first come first served basis.

Funding for this program has been made available to the Town of South Hadley through a Regional Economic Development Corporation Grant from the Western Mass Economic Development Corporation. All projects must be completed by June 30, 2024.
