1. How do I join the Senior Center?

Call the Senior Center at 413-538-5030 and make an appointment for a tour of the facility.

2. How do I join the fitness center at the Senior Center?

1. Download a fitness center packet or pick one up in person at the Senior Center.
2. Return completed forms to the Senior Center. Please keep informatinal forms for your files.
3. When all forms are complete, including the Physician's sform, you will recieve a phone call from the Senior Center to schedule an orientation appointment. If we receive your physician’s form by mail or email, we will contact you to let you know.
4. Membership is free for South Hadley Residents.
5. Non-residents and person less than 60 years old pay $15.00 a month, due on the 1st of the month. If joining on the 15th of the month or after, pay $8.00

6. A Senior Center scan card is required to sign in. Please request a scan card at the welcome desk.

3. How old does one have to be to join?

You must be 60 years of age or older to attend activities at the South Hadley Council on Aging. Some activities must be limited to members 60 years or older, due to funding agency regulations. A suggested donation may be required for some programs for members under the age of 60. An example would be our Congregate Meal lunch program.

4. Is there a cost for membership?

There is no cost for membership at the Senior Center.

5. Does one have to live in South Hadley to attend the Congregate Lunch Program?

No, you do not have to be South Hadley resident to attend the Congregate Lunch Program. Anonymous, suggested donation is $2.25 for 60 or older, guests under 60 are charged $6.50 per Federal Regulations. Title III-C Congregate Meal Site program provided by WestMass ElderCare through funding from the Executive Offce of Elder Affairs. For questions about meals, please call the Nutrition Department at 413-538-9020. 

6. How do I make a lunch reservation?

Call 413-538-5030, 1 day ahead and give your name. One must be 60 or over and the only exceptions to the age requirements are if 1 is a volunteer or a guest of a senior.

7. What is Outreach Services?

The Social Service Coordinator is available to make office appointments, home appointments, and provide information to assist seniors in remaining at home, while remaining independent and safe. She will also make referrals when necessary.

8. How do I make a transportation request?

Call 413-538-5030 and state your destination. If the ride is available, your name, address and phone number will be requested. However, if you are requesting a service not provided by the South Hadley Council on Aging, a referral will be made.

9. How do I receive the newsletter?

If you are 60 or over and a resident of South Hadley, you should be receiving “The Golden Chronicle” monthly.  There is no charge for this publication and mailing is covered through funding from grants, the town, and generous donations. If you would like to recieve the newsletter via email or through the mail please email Lisa Napiorkowski or call the Senior Center at 413-538-5030. We encourage residents to make a $5 per year donation to help cover mailing costs.  Out-of-town residents may receive the publication for a fee of $10 per year.
