Celebrate the first day of Spring on Sunday, March 20th with the South Hadley Bike-Walk Committee on its guided trek, led by Keith Davis, chair of BWC, to Lithia Springs reservoir in Skinner State Park. Meet at 1 pm in the small parking lot located on the left off Rt. 116 Northbound; its entry on the left is across from a large green building on the right (if you reach the Notch Visitors Center, you’ve gone too far).
Trail conditions can vary this time of year from deep snow and ice to shallow, rocky rivulets and mud. Come prepared with safe, appropriate footwear and clothing; walking poles may be of benefit too. Bring water and optional snacks. The roundtrip distance of moderately rolling wooded and uneven terrain is approximately 4 miles; plan for 3 hours to complete the full trek. If some folks want to shorten the hike, we will split off a group after mile one. No matter what, think Spring!
