SOUTH HADLEY – A community day set for Sept. 10 will celebrate the new ball field and
playground at the South Hadley Senior Center.
Connecting the history of the former Woodlawn School to the intergenerational way it is used
today, the area at 45 Dayton Street will officially be designated as Woodlawn Park.
From 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., a full day of festivities is planned. Town Administrator Lisa Wong
and community leaders will begin the dedication at 11 a.m. Face painting, a whiffle ball home run
derby, yoga, fitness instruction, senior center tours, a cornhole tournament and a jazz concert will
follow. All are encouraged to attend.
With the new senior center as the cornerstone, the playground sits adjacent to a new ball field,
surrounded by a mile-long path dotted with outdoor fitness stations. The community is welcomed
to use each section.
