Per the state Division of fisheries and wildlife, a memo has been issued to inform the public that bears will now begin to emerge from hibernation seeking food. It is advised that residents remove bird feeders and other potential food sources to reduce potential issues if encounters do occur. Individuals should also be mindful that their animals and livestock may also be at risk and should take the necessary steps to ensure they are properly secured.
