[ARCHIVED] Cooling shelters available at COA, library; spray park hours extended to 7 p.m.

Cooling shelters are available at the South Hadley Senior Center and the public libraries during their hours of operation. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated residents are asked to wear masks inside these locations. 

The spray parks at Buttery Brook Park and The Beachgrounds have extended hours of operation until 7 p.m. due to the extreme heat. 

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting a period of prolonged oppressive heat  Wednesday (8/11) to Friday (8/13) throughout most of the Commonwealth. During this three-day period, daytime temperature highs will be up to 95 degrees Wednesday and 95-99 degrees Thursday and Friday. Heat index (Apparent Temperature) values will be up to 100 degrees Wednesday and 105-109 Thursday and Friday.
