Volunteer opportunities are available on South Hadley boards and committees. Consider serving South Hadley by joining one!

A total of 17 boards and committees have at least one position with an expiring term, and many have vacancies. During this COVID-19 pandemic, these June 2020 term expiration dates will be extended until September at which time the Selectboard will conduct a virtual interview process.

Positions with a 2020 expiration term limit are available to all interested candidates. These positions are not automatically filled by incumbent reappointments. However, incumbents with expiring terms who wish to continue serving will be given all due consideration.

Boards and committees with expiring terms and/or vacancies needing filling include:

  • Appropriations Committee
  • Bike Walk Committee
  • Bylaw Review Committee
  • Canal Park Committee
  • Conservation Commission
  • Council on Aging Board
  • Cultural Council, Golf Commission
  • Golf Commission
  • Historical Commission
  • Historic District Study Committee
  • Master Plan Implementation Committee
  • Planning Board (Associate Member)
  • Recreation Commission
  • Registrar of Voters
  • Sustainability & Energy Commission
  • Tree Committee
  • Trustees of the Old Firehouse Museum

The Selectboard is seeking citizens with diverse interests and abilities to apply for these available positions. There are no special requirements for any of the boards and committees other than a willingness to serve. However, applicants must be registered to vote in the Town of South Hadley.

Those wishing to apply to serve on a board or committee must do so online. See the full list of vacancies and term expirations here. Once you’ve determined the board or committee with a vacancy or expiration on which you’re interested in serving, apply here. Applicants will be contacted with instructions for how to attend a virtual interview process once that has been established.
