The Department of Revenue (DOR) mandates that all cities and towns physically inspect all properties at least every nine years. This is to ensure that the property data is correct in the computer-assisted mass appraisal system to calculate accurate property valuations. The collection and maintenance of current and accurate property inventory data is a critical element in determining uniform, fair market valuations.
With the intention of meeting the DOR’s requirement, the Assessors have contracted with both Bishop & Associates and Vision Government Solutions who, on behalf of the Assessors, will conduct inspections for those properties/neighborhoods identified for inspection.
In order to ensure a successful data collection program the Board of Assessors is requesting full cooperation of all taxpayers in this state mandated endeavor. This program requires an inspection of the interior as well as the exterior of all buildings. The interior inspections will take approximately ten (10) minutes and is necessary to determine the full and fair cash value (market value) of the property. Exterior inspections will be performed if the property owner is not home.
The Board of Assessors wishes to thank all taxpayers, property owners and residents for their anticipated cooperation of this effort to improve the accuracy of our records.
