[ARCHIVED] Route 116 / Newton Street project plans, information available from MassDOT

MassDOT held a design public hearing on June 19  to discuss the reconstruction and resurfacing of Newton Street.

The project consists of the reconstruction of Newton Street from Route 202 to just beyond the Kendrick Street intersection. The reconstruction will include the milling and overlay of the existing roadway and reconstruction of the sidewalks along Newton Street, ADA compliant ramps, new crosswalks, and bicycle accommodations consisting of an on-road buffered bicycle lane along the majority of the corridor. At the intersection of Lyman Street, as well as at the entrance to the South Hadley High School, the bike lane will be constructed without the buffer to allow for construction of left turn lanes.

Learn more about the project in a presentation offered at the hearing by MassDOT below, or by following this link: https://www.southhadley.org/DocumentCenter/View/5275/116-Resurfacing-Plans
