Get involved: boards and committees seek resident volunteers

Volunteer opportunities are available on South Hadley boards and committees. Consider serving South Hadley by joining one!

A total of 16 boards and committees have at least one position with a term expiring in June 2019. Additionally, nearly all boards and committees have vacant positions needing to be filled. Boards and committees with expiring terms and/or vacancies include:

  • Bike Walk Committee
  • Bylaw Review Committee
  • Canal Park Committee
  • Conservation Commission
  • Council on Aging Board
  • Cultural Council, Golf Commission
  • Historical Commission
  • Historic District Study Committee
  • Master Plan Implementation Committee
  • Recreation Commission
  • Registrar of Voters
  • Sustainability & Energy Commission
  • Tree Committee
  • Trustees of the Old Firehouse Museum
  • Zoning Board of Appeals

The Selectboard is seeking citizens with diverse interests and abilities to apply for these available positions. There are no special requirements for any of the boards and committees other than a willingness to serve.

The Selectboard interviews and appoints candidates three times a year. The Selectboard will next interview and appoint candidates at their June meetings. The terms of these new appointments begin July 1.

Those wishing to apply to serve on a board or committee must do so online by June 12. See the full list of vacancies and term expirations here. Once you've determined on which board or committee you're interested on serving, apply here.

Openings due to term expirations are available to all interested candidates. These positions are not automatically filled by incumbent reappointments. However, incumbents with expiring terms who wish to continue serving will be given all due consideration.
