The town was recently awarded a MassWorks grant in the amount of $1,000,000 to make improvements at Gaylord Street and the HG&E parking lot (located at the intersection of Main Street and Bardwell Street). The purpose of the grant is to help facilitate economic development.
The scope of the work on Gaylord Street includes new sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks with flashing beacons, and road resurfacing. Also, new water main will be installed from Bardwell Street to Prospect Street. The HG&E parking lot work includes new guardrails, pavement resurfacing, and striping.
Work on this project will start on Monday, March 25, and is expected to be completed by June 30. There will be periods of time when parking will not be allowed on portions of Gaylord Street and/or the HG&E parking lot. When this is necessary, the areas will be posted with “No Parking” signs on the previous day. Sections of Gaylord Street may be temporarily closed at times and traffic detoured around the work area.
