The trek will take approx. 40-45 minutes each way. The trails are a mix of dirt-and-leaf paths and gravel roads with several mild-moderate ascents and descents. Trails will contain exposed tree roots and other small tree debris. Participants are invited to bring their own “carry-in/carry-out” picnic items to snack on after reaching the reservoir. The trek is approximately 4 miles in length round-trip.
Meet at 12:45 pm at the “Hiker Parking” dirt parking lot at 500 Amherst Rd, Granby (Rt. 116). The brown parking lot sign will be marked by balloons. To reach from South Hadley, go northward on Rt. 116 and watch for the sign/balloons on the left after passing Gagne’s Market and Pearl Street (also on the left). Wear weather-appropriate clothing and safe footwear, and bring water and optional picnic snacks. No trash facilities are available at the reservoir and parking lot—all trash must be carried out and appropriately disposed of off-site.
Non-enjoyable or hazardous inclement weather/conditions will force a cancellation with the trek rescheduled to Sunday, 10/29 at 1 pm.
