On Sunday, April 9th at 1 pm the South Hadley Bike-Walk Committee invites the public to discover some of MHC's hidden gems—its Prospect Hill trails, a “secret oasis” and a famous sculptor’s art work for starters.
The approximately 90-min. trek is about 2 miles in length throughout the campus. The trek will start first with the Prospect Hill trails that are comprised of leaf-lined and dirt paths that include a couple of long, gradual ascents/descents with a 30-35% steepness gradient and a few switchbacks. Be prepared for protruding tree roots and natural debris scattered along the paths. Walking poles are optional, but recommended. The trek will also include a few staircases inside and outside of buildings accessed via paved paths.
Meet at 12:45 pm in the parking lot that is situated between Prospect Hall and the Willits-Hallowell Center. Access the parking lot via Park St/Church St. off Rt. 116/College St and then turn right onto Lower Lake Rd. Drive past the Greenhouse (on right) to access the small road with bridge on left to parking lot. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and safe footwear, and bring water and optional snacks. Non-enjoyable or hazardous inclement weather/conditions will force a cancellation.
Post-trek, please join BWC members for light refreshments and socializing!
