The Pearl St closure between Hadley St and Woodbridge St will remain in effect until at least mid-October while construction continues. Material and weather delays have pushed back project completion until this fall date. MVP FY25 - Pearl St Culvert Replacement at Elmer Brook
A $1.2 million Municipal Vulnerability Preparation Grant is funding this construction project. Construction to replace the undersized culvert began in May 2025 and is anticipated to be finished mid October 2025. The project is replacing a 6' metal culvert with a 16' open bottom metal arch culvert. The project will eliminate severe constriction of Elmer Brook under Pearl St, which can lead to flooding. It will also repair downstream erosion in the waterway to improve the cold water wildlife habitat by removing the threat of continued sediment erosion.
