  • Property Tax Assessment Date for the following fiscal year – This is the effective date for assessed values for all property except for any new construction up to and including June 30.
  • Ownership Date – Whoever owns the property on January 1 will be listed on the tax bill for the entire fiscal year.
February 1
  • Deadline to file an application for abatement for real and/or personal property.
  • Deadline for payment of 3rd quarter tax bill without interest. (Unless this date falls on a weekend or holiday. The deadline is then extended to the next business day.)
March 1
  • Personal Property Owner – Final filing date for Form of List.
  • Non-Profit Organization – Final filing date for 3ABC Forms.
April 1
  • Taxpayer – Deadline to file application for personal exemption.
May 1
  • Deadline for payment of 4th quarter tax bill without interest. (Unless this date falls on a weekend or holiday. The deadline is then extended to the next business day.)
June 30
  • Physical inventory of all parcels that have added new construction or improvements on a parcel between January 1 and June 30. The assessment of real estate parcels will be based on the buildings, structures and other physical improvements that are part of the parcel on June 30 instead of those that are part of the parcel on January 1.
July 1
  • New fiscal year begins.
  • Qualification date for personal exemptions – applications begin to be accepted.
August 1
  • Deadline for payment of 1st quarter tax bill without interest. (Unless this date falls on a weekend or holiday. The deadline is then extended to the next business day.)
September 30
  • Last date to file application to have land valued and taxed as Forestry Land, M.G.L. Chapter 61 for the next fiscal year
October 1
  • Last date to file application to have land valued and taxed as Agricultural / Horticultural Land or Recreational Land, M.G.L. Chapter 61A and Chapter 61B for the next fiscal year
November 1
  • Deadline for Payment of 2nd quarter tax bill without interest. (Unless this date falls on a weekend or holiday. The deadline is then extended to the next business day.)
December 31
  • Mailing of the 3rd quarter tax bill which is the first actual tax bill. This bill will show any new valuation and tax amount.
  • Mailings for Form of List and 3ABC to known property owners.
