South Hadley Police is accepting applications for Police Officers through a Civil Service Lateral Transfer. The South Hadley Police Department has a staffing of 29 full time dedicated officers that are committed to serving and protecting our community.
Candidates for the position should have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, valid Massachusetts Class A LTC, and must be permanent Massachusetts Civil Service Police Officers eligible for transfer subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 31 § 35. Applicants will be required to successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation along with a physical and psychological examinations. Candidates must have the highest integrity, commitment to community, and be able to problem solve complex community issues.
The South Hadley Police Department offers a competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance, paid vacation, personal days, sick time, overtime and education incentives. Persons applying who were hired under civil service prior to July 1, 2009 and are receiving the “Quinn Bill” will continue to receive the educational benefit. The South Hadley Police Department also offers an educational stipend (qualified degrees, $2000/Associate & $6000/Bachelor) for those candidates hired after July 1, 2009.
