Why do I have to pay for trash pickup when I pay taxes?
None of the solid waste costs are included in the real estate taxes.  All costs are paid from the Landfill Enterprise Fund which is a separate fund financed by the rubbish and recycling pickup fees charged to property owners.

How does the town charge for trash pickup?

• Residential property owners are billed at the rate of $28 per person per year.

• Businesses are charged $112 per year.

• Home businesses are charged $28.00 per year.

How do you determine the number of residents residing in each dwelling unit?

• Number of residents is based on prior year’s billing.

• Adjustments are made for births and deaths.

• New construction and transfer of ownership properties are charged for three.

• Adjustments are made based on abatement application information.

• Adjustments are made from information provided by residents.

• No pro-ration for partial year occupancy.

How can I check the status of my trash bill?

Inquiries regarding payment(s) should be directed to the Collector’s Office at 538-5020.  All other inquiries should be directed to the DPW at 538-5033.
